Jeff
Duff : Jeff Duff was a pop icon in the 70s, fronting the glam
band Kush, and being known for his outrageous David Bowie-ish
persona. One album, recorded by the band (including Grand Wazoo's
John Montesante -then known as Santos), titled Snow White & The Seven
Straights contained their hit tune Easy Street, which made them
famous. After the band broke up, Jeff went overseas at the end of the
70s, and remained for 10 years, releasing further recordings in
England, where he was known as Duffo. Since returning to Australia by
the early 90s, Jeff Duff has continued to front his own bands, with
amazing vocal versatility that means he can sing Rock, Jazz, Big Band
and Rhythm & Blues, with equal facility. He is constantly recording
CDS, most recently an album with the Ed Wilson big band, titled
Cooler Than Cool, Hotter Than Hot; his show CD Ground Control to
Frank Sinatra, his originals album Lost In Stars, as well as
appearing in ABC musical projects, recorded in the Opera House,
delighting on Spicks & Specks, and guesting on Deep Purple's latest
album. He also recorded with Grand Wazoo during 2007, singing 2 guest
tracks on their newly released album, SOUL MONSTER - LIVE.
He and his former Kush & Jo Jo Zep colleagues, singer Jeff Duff, and saxophonist Wilbur Wilde, continue to work together sporadically, when they appear as guest artists with Montesante’s bands.
